What does it mean to be a transgender girl? Are there any differences compared to other children?
Rainbow loves Lego, climbing trees, reading, playing with her friends, and ignoring her parents when they tell her to wash her hands before dinner. She might sound very much like your children — she is — except when she was born, we assumed she was a boy.

Challenges and approach
The challenge with this piece was to balance the sensitivity of the subject with the need for storytelling and the portrayal of Rainbow.
Initially, I failed to achieve this by depicting Rainbow as having both male and female characteristics. I realised that this could cause her harm, so I decided to depict a monochrome girl who would gain more colours as she developed feelings and received acceptance from her family.
